(SC502a) Color trial specimen printed in brown, red and yellow. One of a
pleasing trio of Waterlow & Sons printed Scotland specimen notes, with this
piece showing the earliest date for the design. Differing from the issued design
only in border color with brown inks noticed in favor of the black color.
Sensational detail throughout and highly scarce in this form. Specimen
overprints and three punch cancels. A few stains at the lower border are
