SOUTH AFRICA. Standard Bank of South Africa Limited 10/- Shillings, ND (1900-20). P-S421cts.
Color trial specimen printed by W&S in black and red. A location which is
always highly popular with collectors as South Africa is well traveled and the
banknotes are all quite beautiful. This piece shows in a smaller format although
packed with intricate devices with vignettes of Britannia standing with shield
and flag at right and Van Riebeeck at left. Nicely under-printed and seen with a
"bowtie," style back design with portrait of a crowned woman at center. A few
light stains and seen with specimen overprints and punch cancels. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58 Net. Previously Mounted, Stain.
