67.07 mm; 92.44 gms. Leonello d'Este, Marquess of Ferrara (1407-50). Pollard-9; Hill-30. By: Antonio de Pucci (Pisanello) (ca. 1394-1455). Bust of Leonello left, legend around; Reverse: Nude youth reclining before rock, vase (device of Leonello) atop rock. The motif of the medal seems to evoke a sense of mortality, and it may allude to the death of Leonello's first wife. Nice dark patina. Possibly a later recast. CHOICE VERY FINE.
