SAINT THOMAS & PRINCE. 40 Reis, ND (1854). PCGS VF-25 Secure Holder.
KM-unlisted; Gomes-09.01. An interesting piece which began as a normally minted 1722 40 Reis for Brazil (KM-111), was then countermarked for use in Mozambique in 1765, and finally countermarked again (on the opposite side) in 1854 for circulation in the St. Thomas and Prince Islands. The host coin shows a bit of wear as would be expected. Both countermarks are bold and clear, graded EF Details, host PCGS VF-25 Secure Holder.
