Military saint (probably St. Demetrios) standing facing, holding spear and shield; illegible sigla on both sides; all within border of dots / + KЄR,Θ, [ΤѠ]CѠΔ૪Λ, [MIX]AHΛMA [ΓIC]TPѠΚΑ[...] [...]PATHΛAT[...] THCANATO[ΛΗC] TѠKON[TO] CTEΦΑ[...] in eight lines, ornaments above and below; all within border of dots. A very important seal of Michael Kontostephanos, which names him stratelates of the East, a title not mentioned on other seals in his name (DO Seals 5 no. 9.4. & Spink I, no. 43 as magistros and doux of Antioch; Likhachev, Molivdovuly, 276 and pl. LXXXI, no. 9 as kouropalates and doux).
