Islands off Troas, Tenedos AR Tetradrachm. Circa 100-80 BC. Janiform head of a laureate bearded male to left and female to right, wearing stephanos / Labrys; TENEΔIΩN above, handle flanked by monogram and grape bunch to left, and female head wearing stephane to right; all within laurel wreath. Cf. Callataÿ, Tenedos 7 for similar obverse die and monogram; cf. HGC 6, 390; cf. NAC 132, 301 for similar bust on reverse. 15.71g, 35mm, 12h.
Near Extremely Fine; double struck on reverse (TENEΔIΩN can be seen on head of labrys), edge broken. Apparently unique and unpublished.

This lot and the next one share an obverse die with a large ear facing left to suit the bearded male head, a rare feature only otherwise apparent on Callataÿ, Tenedos 7 (D4) and on an apparently unpublished type sold by CNG in 2019 (E-443, lot 84).
