JAINTIAPUR: Bar Gossain II, 1731-1770, AR rupee (9.86g), SE1653, KM-177, Rhodes obverse symbol F, no marks below or above reverse field, triplet upper right, no testmarks, bold VF to EF, ex Eck Prud'homme Collection. Rhodes listing of rupees of Bar Gossain II is incomplete; none are listed with obverse symbol F. The Rhodes catalog is interesting but very difficult to follow, especially the uncertain use of "as last," the presumption that the reader is very familiar with the calligraphy, the out-of-focus photos and the out-of-focus symbols in the table. With some modest editing, and given the excellent printing now readily available in India, a revised edition would be a delight.
