ABBASID: al-Ma'mun, 810-833, AR dirham (2.86g), Zaranj, AH208, A-223.4, Low-2498, citing Dhu'l-Yaminin above reverse field, followed by a'azzahu Allah and the governor Ibn al-Qusi below, choice VF, RRR. Dhu'l-Yaminin, "possessor of the two right hands," actually refers to the first Tahirid ruler, Tahir b. al-Husayn, who died in the previous year AH207. The same upper reverse inscription is best known on coins dated AH207. This type can also be considered a Tahirid rather than 'Abbasid coin.
