SASANIAN KINGDOM: Kavad I, 2nd reign, 499-531, AR drachm (4.05g), "YRW", year "17", G-185var, 2nd series, nice portrait, EF. Contemporary or slightly later imitation, probably from the northeastern region, with meaningless mint name and a crudely engraved date that seems to be derived from 17 (HFTDH). Cf. Schindel-A33 (p.436) for a somewhat similar example, but without the symbol that looks like a cursive "m" and replaced the Pahlavi name of the ruler.
