SAMANID: Isma'il I, 892-907, AR dirham (4.33g), NM, AH303 (sic), A-1443, posthumous issue, with the name of the engraver Mujib in the reverse margin at about 5h, and another unread abbreviation, perhaps of another engraver, in the inner margin of the obverse, above the word al-dirham, choice EF, RRR. The style of this piece suggests it was struck at Balkh or Andaraba, or at some uncertain location in the same region. The year 303 was a confused year, and saw the uprising of Ahmad b. Sahl, who struck coins at both Balkh & Andaraba in 303.
