Edward IV (1461-70), First reign, Second Crown 'Titled' Coinage (1463-64), Penny, Waterford mint, large crown with two double lower bands and oval within inner beaded linear circle, initial mark cross, legend surrounds EDWARD DI GNS HYB. Rev, long cross and tri pellets in angles all contained within inner beaded border, reads CIVITAS WATFORD, 0.45g (S.6299; Burns. N-9, p32; Coincraft IE41D-035, Burns states one specimen known to author). An excessively rare coin, lightly toned with a clear depiction of the crown, on the reverse the mint name definitive. When placed side by side with the Burns plate coin our example is of a superior quality of preservation. Very fine for issue. A true numismatic rarity.
