Mary (1542-67), Half-Testoon with Francis as Dauphin, 1560, second period (1558-60), type II, arms of Dauphin dimidiated with Scottish arms with Scottish Crown, cross to left, saltire to right, legend surrounding, FRAN ET MA DG R R FRANCO SCOTOR Q. Rev, crowned FM monogram, crowned fleur de lis to left, crowned thistle to right, legend and date surrounding, VICIT LEO DE TRIBV IVDA 1560, 3.16g (S.5420; SCBI 58, 1038-43). Lightly toned, few raised die flaws both sides. The more intricate details pronounced within the coat of arms, cross to the left worn, otherwise legends clear. Rev, crowned FM monogram pleasing, not suffering from the flatness which normally presents on this type. Good very fine, very rare, seldom appearing with the Scottish crown.

Coin archives only records two examples of this Half-Testoon where the Scottish crown is employed. Cf. Baldwin's Auction 96, lot 3468, 24th September 2015, and iNumis mail bid sale 25, lot 361, 3rd June 2014, the former realising a hammer price of £420 and the latter 530 euros, not including buyer's premium.
