Ex. St James's Auction 28, 24th June 2014, lot 142.
The smallest Gold denomination available in the Commonwealth period, compact types seldom seen over the counter or at coin fairs. Our example with a fully centred strike, the obverse lettering especially clear and bold with a nice contrast both sides in the fields and central designs. Our example scoring a higher grade than the Millennia Collection specimen [via the Ex. Jacob Y Terner
collection Goldberg Auction 46, 26th May 2008, lot 313) which achieved MS64.
