MYSIA. Kyzikos. Circa 550-500 BC. Stater (Electrum, 27x15.5 mm, 16.14 g). Half-length bust of a winged woman, perhaps a Harpy, to left, wearing a chiton, a tight-fitting cap and a circular hoop earring, holding a tunny by the tail in her right hand and a flower in her left. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. BMFA 1448. Greenwell 98. SNG Paris 205 (same obverse die). Von Fritze 75, and pl. II, 30. With a fascinating type sharply struck on an oblong flan. Tiny banker's mark in the obverse field, otherwise, extremely fine.
From a European collection, ex Roma 1, 27 September 2015, 479.

Here is another harpy holding a fish: this time she seems to be coming back from the market, not only holding her purchase but also a flower, perhaps given to her by an obsequious fishmonger!
