CILICIA. Uncertain mint. Circa 400-350 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.42 g, 5 h). Forepart of a lion with open jaws to right. Rev. Griffin with curved wings seated to right. Apparently unpublished. Of great rarity, probably unique. Struck from beautifully engraved dies and most attractive. Extremely fine.
The lion and the griffin are both ancient oriental symbols; thus perfect types to be found on Cilician issues!
