THRACE. Perinthus. Caracalla, 198-217. 8 Assaria or Medallion (Bronze, 41.5 mm, 43.32 g, 6 h), 215-217. AYT · K · M · AYP · CEOY(HP) · A(NT)ΩNINOC AYΓ Laureate and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, viewed from the front, with an aegis over his left shoulder and a gorgoneion on his cuirass, holding a spear, held in his left hand, over his left shoulder. Rev. ΠEPIN-ΘΙΩ-N NEΩ KOPΩN Tyche, turreted and draped, standing facing, her head turned to left, holding a temple, shown in perspective, in her outstretched right and left hands; at her feet to left, partially obscured by deposits, a lit and garlanded altar. Schubert 596 (same dies). Varbanov 235 (same dies as the piece illustrated). An impressive coin, with a dark green patina. Traces of corrosion, breaks in the patina and a minor flan crack, otherwise, good very fine/extremely fine.
