SICILY. Akragas. Circa 410-406 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.20 g, 7 h). Male charioteer, holding the reins in both hands, driving quadriga galloping to right; above, Nike flying to left to crown the driver; in the emerge, crab moving downwards. Rev. AK[P-A-Γ]-ANTI-NΩN (retrograde from the lower right) Two eagles standing right on a dead hare resting on a rock; the near eagle with closed wings and head raised in "exultation"; the far eagle with spread wings and with head lowered to tear at the hare. Sharply struck, with an attractive dark patina and beautifully toned. Nearer eagle's head off the flan and minor areas of flatness, otherwise, good very fine.
