ETRURIA. Populonia. Circa 3rd century BC. Sextans (Bronze, 28.5 mm, 15.66 g, 8 h). Head of Turms (Mercury) to right, wearing petasos and with his cloak fastened together with a circular brooch on the neckline; in the field to left, behind his head, crescent with points to right. Rev. 'Pupluna' (in Etruscan) between two caducei, head to tail, each tied with a ribbon; between them, value mark, X. EC Group LI, 139.23 (O3/R4). HGC 1, 184. HN III 190. Vicari 115. Very rare, and with a lovely hard green patina. Obverse very slightly double-struck, otherwise, good very fine.
