CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 272-240 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 6.45 g, 9 h), struck under the magistrate Aristis. Horseman advancing to left, crowning horse with a wreath held in his right hand, and holding reins in his left; below horse, ΑΡ-ΙΣΤΙC over anchor to right. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Phalanthos seated on dolphin to left, holding, in his right hand, Nike crowning him with a wreath, and a spindle with his left hand. HN III 1020. Vlasto 820 (same dies). Sharp, clear and attractive. About extremely fine.
