INDONESIA: Bali, vintage coin doll (218g), 34.5 x 8cm, standing figure composed of Qing Chinese cash coins tied together with string and a stylized hand-carved gilt face, hands, skirt and feet, EF The Indonesian "Prosperity Doll", sometimes referred to as a "Wedding Doll", as it was custom to give as a marriage gift or given as a gift to wish prosperity upon the recipient. This is an excellent example of a handmade Wedding Doll. Chinese cash coins continued to circulate in the Dutch East Indies after they were demonetized in China and were later used in Bali until 1970. They are still used for most Hindu rituals today.
