BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1618-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Pedro Martin de Palencia (RAL). Philip III. PCGS Genuine--Plugged, VF Details.
KM-9; Cal-774; Paoletti-151. Weight: 13.34 gms. A charming cob from this RARE assayer. The mintmark and assayer's monogram presents boldly and confidently abreast of the strikingly detailed Habsburg shield on the obverse. Below the shield, hints of the legend are visible. On the reverse, the date displays prominently and in full, albeit with some curious doubling on the digit "6". The somewhat crudely plugged hole, visible at the 4 o'clock position on the obverse, mercifully leaves all the coin's most important details intact and does little to diminish the appeal of this wonderfully toned 4 Reales piece.
