BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, ND (1620-21)-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). Philip III. PCGS Genuine--Salt Water Damage, VF Details.
KM-9; Cal-Type-149. Weight: 12.05 gms. An appealing salvaged Cob with an interesting irregular flan, almost resembling a heart. The argent surfaces, though clearly demonstrating the "shipwreck effect", are less corroded and porous than often encountered. A distinct Habsburg shield is visible on the obverse, along with a mintmark and doubled assayer's initials. The reverse retains pleasing central devices and the lone digit "2" of the date, indicating mintage in either 1620 or 1621. An overall attractive piece of the Atocha treasure.
