BOLIVIA. Duo of Cob 4 Reales (2 Pieces), (ca. 1618-24)-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). Both PCGS Certified.
KM-9; Cal-Type-149 (both coins). A choice pair of Potosi cobs. Although neither piece can be definitively ascribed to a particular date, each one presents tantalizing clues. The first of the two exhibits the king's ordinal, which, coupled with the assayer's initial, indicate a date range of 1618-21. The second coin shows a partial date which, taking into consideration the style of the shield and cross, indicates the coin was struck under Philip IV between 1621 and 1624. Both pieces offer attractive patina and abundant eye appeal.
