BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1628-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). Philip IV. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, EF Details.
KM-17A; Cal-1092. Weight: 13.24 gms. A highly appealing cob with generous detail. The obverse features most of the denomination, mintmark, and assayer's initial on the sides of the central Habsburg shield. The reverse is more impressive, with boldly struck castles and lions surrounded by legible portions of the outer legends. Much of the date remains, including a bold digit "2" and unmistakable truncated "8". The surfaces are lightly toned to a pewter-gray with darker patina in the protected areas. A charming example of this date. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click here.
