BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1633-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). Philip IV. PCGS VF-30.
KM-17A; Cal-Type-279; Sellschopp-481 (plate coin). Weight: 13.30 gms. This attractive and problem-free Cob, plated in Sellschopp, boasts plenty of detail. The first letters of the monarch's name appear on the obverse, along with a clear denomination and remnants of both the mintmark and assayer's initial. On the reverse, just enough of the final two digits of the date are decipherable, giving this piece a definitive dating. The central devices on both sides exhibit some weakness but remain satisfyingly intact. The coin's surfaces are lightly toned and wholesome, making this an altogether very appealing example.
