BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, ND (1618-39)-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details.
cf. KM-17A; Cal-Type-279. Weight: 13.31 gms. As this Potosi cob does not include any legible portions of the outer legends, no determination can be made as to its date or ruling monarch. The mintmark and assayer's initial are fully present, however, giving the coin a date range between the later reign of Philip III and the early reign of Philip IV. The reverse features attractive castles and lions with plenty of detail. The noted environmental damage is mostly confined to the peripheries. A charming piece despite its shortcomings.
