BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1640-P. Potosi Mint. Philip IV. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details.
KM-17A; Cal-Type-279. Weight: 13.28 gms. A somewhat corroded Cob that displays some enticing detail. The obverse shows the full monarch's ordinal, and the reverse offers the final two digits of the date boldly and clearly. While no assayer's initial appears on the planchet, with a date of 1640 it could either be Pedro Trevino or Felipe Ramirez de Arellano. The central devices are mostly weak or worn, but the coin remains charmingly crude and precisely dated. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click here.
