BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1644-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Felipe Rodriguez de Arellano (FR). Philip IV. PCGS EF-40.
KM-17A; Cal-1098. Weight: 13.68 gms. A beautifully toned and well-preserved specimen from a RARE date. The obverse displays a bold mintmark and assayer's monogram to the left of the finely-detailed Habsburg shield. On the far right, a partial denomination mark appears. The reverse shows all four digits of the date, partially obscured from doubling but still determinable. Some flatness is present on both sides, but a satisfying amount of central details remains. The surfaces display an elegant old cabinet tone that gives the coin particular eye appeal. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
