BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, ND (1648-49)-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Pedro Zambrano (Z). Philip IV. PCGS VF-30.
KM-17B; Cal-Type-279; Sellschopp-525 (plate coin). Weight: 12.82 gms. An attractive and well-preserved Cob from a RARE assayer. The obverse displays the mintmark and assayer's initial "Z" along with a portion of the peripheral legend reading "ISPANIAR". The reverse has boldly struck castles and lions with fragments of the date visible, albeit indeterminable. The surfaces are deeply toned with dark patina in the protected areas, emboldening the well-struck details. An appealing and problem-free example of this challenging issue.
