BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, ND (1649-51)-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Rodriguez de Rodas (O). Philip IV. NGC EF-40; Countermark: AU Strong.
KM-17B; Cal-Type-279; KM-C17.2 (for countermark). Weight: 10.85 gms. This Potosi Cob displays a bold "crown alone" countermark on the center of its obverse. On the far left, the mintmark and assayer's mark are clearly visible. The reverse, slightly convex from the impact of the counterstamp, displays pleasing castles and lions though no peripheral details. A wonderful example with abundant eye appeal.
