BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1655-P. Potosi Mint, Assayer Antonia de Ergueta (E). Philip IV. PCGS EF-40.
cf. KM-18; Cal-1122. Weight: 13.44 gms. Variety with no "PH" between pillars. A quite individual and eye catching 4 Reales piece. Struck on a jagged and irregular planchet, this coin offers a plethora of detail. In all, there are two denominations, a mintmark, two dates, and two assayer initials. In addition, portions of the outer legend are legible. The coin is deeply toned to charcoal gray with flashes of iridescent color around the peripheries. An unusual but undeniably charming example.
