BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1680-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Pedro de Villar (VR). Charles II. PCGS EF-40.
KM-25; Cal-525. Weight: 13.23 gms. A deeply toned cob with attractive surfaces that provide a wealth of detail. The central obverse design displays the upper mintmark, denomination, assayer's initial, and date with striking boldness. The outer legend is off-flan with the fortunate exception of the full city name "POTOSI", arrayed proudly around the rim. The reverse is somewhat sloppy, but preserves the assayer's initial, date, and nearly the entire monarch's name. An enticing piece that offers all the most pertinent details with ample eye appeal.
