BOLIVIA. Cob 2 Reales, 1679-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Manuel de Cejas (C). Charles II. PCGS AU-50.
KM-24; Cal-404. Weight: 5.45 gms. A wonderfully preserved and well-struck 2 Reales piece. The obverse displays full central devices: both mintmarks, both assayer's initials, denomination, and date. Each mark is eminently readable. Though the reverse details are struck somewhat more flatly, the denomination, mintmark, assayer's initial, date, and the beginning of the monarch's name are all easily decipherable. The surfaces have a pleasant light tone, with darker toning around the devices that makes the details pop. A highly attractive piece with everything that a discerning collector could ask for from the type. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
