BRAZIL. Brazil - Bolivia. 300 Reis, ND (1663). Afonso VI. PCGS FINE-12; Countermark: AU Details.
KM-18.2; Gomes-03.01. Type III. Countermarked on a 1662 Potosi 4 Reales piece of Philip IV (KM-18). This well-circulated piece displays a bold countermark even though the host coin is well-worn. The strong striking resulted in some flatness on the obverse of the host, but enough detail remains identifiable. The piece shows deep cabinet toning and attractive problem-free surfaces. A great example of this interesting type. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
