GUATEMALA. Cob 4 Reales, 1744-G. Guatemala Mint; Assayer Jose de Leon y Losa (J). Philip V. PCGS Genuine--Holed, Fine Details.
KM-5; Cal-1016. Weight: 12.61 gms. This is an impressive example considering the RARITY of this date, among the most difficult in the Guatemalan series. The coin exhibits clear surfaces that indicate it was spared from the saltwater damage that plagues so many coins of this type. A hole on the far end of the irregular planchet and an unstruck depression are comparatively inconsequential drawbacks, especially considering how boldly the date is presented. A highly presentable example of his elusive type. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click here.
