GUATEMALA. Cob 4 Reales, 1748-G. Guatemala Mint; Assayer Jose de Leon y Losa (J). Ferdinand VI. PCGS FINE-15.
KM-11; Cal-346; KM-87.2 (for countermark). Weight: 12.97 gms. Guatemala (Central American Republic) Type II Countermark; sun over mountains within circular border. Countermark grade: EF Details. The host coin is well-circulated and struck on a crude planchet, as is typical. It nonetheless displays a full date and mintmark on the obverse, as well as mostly complete crowned arms on the reverse. The countermark on the obverse center is fully struck with a rather degraded die, though it is fairly well-preserved. A pleasing example of the type.
