GUATEMALA. Cob 4 Reales, 1753-G. Guatemala Mint; Assayer Jose de Leon y Losa (J). Ferdinand VI. PCGS FINE-12.
KM-11; Cal-352; KM-87.2 (for countermark). Weight: 13.20 gms. Guatemala (Central American Republic) Type II Countermark; sun over mountains within circular border. Countermark grade: VF Details. While the host coin is well-circulated and struck on an extremely irregular planchet, it retains a full date, assayer's initial, and mintmark. The counterstamp, unusually applied to the reverse, is well-struck and presents its miniature designs quite handsomely. Lightly toned and satisfyingly detailed, this crude example is rather charming.
