GUATEMALA. 4 Reales, 1766-G. Guatemala Mint; Assayer Pedro Sanchez de Guzman (P). Charles III. PCGS FINE-12.
KM-26; Gil-G-4-15; Cal-797. A well-circulated example of this SCARCE Guatemalan silver minor. The obverse was struck slightly off-center, trimming the tops of the upper legend but retaining the rather bold date. The reverse displays the crowned arms with satisfying clarity, and the legends are complete and readable. The surfaces of this piece are toned to a deep matte gray. A wholesome albeit worn example from this seldom-seen date. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
