GUATEMALA. 4 Reales, 1786/5-NG. Nueva Guatemala Mint; Assayer Manuel Eusebio Sanchez (M). Charles III. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, EF Details.
KM-unlisted; Cal-815. An EXTREMELY RARE overdate type, among the rarest of all Guatemalan silver issues. Carefully removed corrosion and an expertly plugged hole at 12 o'clock account for the designation, but this skillful repair work has resulted in a clean and highly presentable example with superior eye appeal. Well-struck on both sides, this coin boasts sharp devices and legends. The overdate is subtle but unmistakable thanks to the clearness of the strike. The surfaces are bright and radiant, with a hint of light toning. This attractive and exceedingly rare piece will certainly occupy a special place within the next collection it joins.
