The obverse shows a strong central shield flanked by a bold mintmark, assayer, and denomination. The reverse offers complete castles and lions contained within unbroken octolobes. Segments of the outer legends appear on both sides, though some areas are flatly struck. Abundant gleaming luster remains on the surfaces, giving the piece a stately glow and touches of warm color.
