MEXICO. Cob 4 Reales, 1611/0-Mo. Mexico City Mint, Assayer F. Philip III. PCGS AU-50.
KM-37.2; Cal-756. Weight: 13.60 gms. A lovely silver minor with charm and originality. The obverse shows a bold denomination, mintmark, and assayer along with a very clear overdate. The Habsburg shield is well-presented, and most of the monarch's name appears on the periphery. The reverse offers attractive and complete castles and lions despite some spots of weak strike. The surfaces exhibit a warm glow due to the light toning and remaining luster. A small flan crack is noted on at 9 o'clock on the obverse side. This beautiful and wholesome example is sure to impress collectors of the Mexican series. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
