MEXICO. Cob 4 Reales, 1624-Mo. Mexico City Mint, Assayer D. Philip IV. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details.
KM-38; Cal-1057. Weight: 13.78 gms. This Mexico City Cob is rather crude, being struck on a short irregular planchet. However, the obverse displays a bold date and mintmark, making the coin completely identifiable. The reverse shows a well-center cross, albeit with some die rotation. The surfaces are nicely toned to a moderate pewter gray. Some minor corrosion accounts for the designation but is hardly noteworthy. A piece with plenty of charm despite its shortcomings.
