MEXICO. Cob 4 Reales, 1654-Mo. Mexico City Mint, Assayer P. Philip IV. PCGS Genuine--Salt Water Damage, VF Details.
KM-38; Cal-1072. Weight: 10.69 gms. Despite this Cob's rough surfaces and dark corrosion, it retains its most important details. The date, mintmark, and assayer all appear quite clearly on the left side of the obverse. Most of the reverse castles and lions are intact along with a portion of the outer legend. This example exhibits much more detail than would be expected from a salvaged coin with saltwater corrosion of this severity. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
