MEXICO. 4 Reales Klippe, 1734-Mo. Mexico City Mint, Assayer Francisco de la Pena (F) and Manuel de la Pena (M). Philip V. PCGS Genuine--Salt Water Damage, AU Details.
KM-41; Cal-1102. Weight: 12.20 gms. This RARE 4 Reales Klippe issue exhibits finely-struck detail. The obverse shows an intricately detailed crowned shield paired with a bold full date and assayers' initials. The reverse cross, rich with detail and well-struck, is accompanied by a large section of the legend reading "HISPANIARV". The surfaces are deeply toned to matte charcoal gray, the result of saltwater immersion. While there is some roughness, the details remain sharp and eminently attractive. A great example of this sought-after rarity. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
