Barac-254A. By J. J. Barre. Diameter: 30mm. Instituted 29 August 1863 for the battles at Cumbres, Cerro del Borrego, San Lorenzo, Puebla, and Mexico City. Obverse: portrait of Napoleon III left, surrounded by legend and laurel wreath; Reverse: legend in five lines, encircled by legends, all within wreath. This stately medal features an elegant portrait in high relief with sharp detail. The surfaces are clean and lustrous, displaying a lovely pewter tone that enhances the sharp details.
