PERU. Cob 4 Reales, (1577-88)-P. Lima Mint; Assayer Diego de la Torre (Do). Philip II. PCGS VF-30.
KM-11; Cal-502. Weight: 13.27 gms. This charming early cob was well-struck on a round flan. The complete legends are visible on both sides, and the mintmarks, assayer's monogram, and denomination are all clear and distinct on the obverse. The castles and lions within the octolobes are perfectly centered and finely-wrought. Although the coin exhibits some honest wear from circulation, its details are complete and made even more attractive by the elegant cabinet toning. A problem-free example overflowing with eye appeal.
