PERU. Cob 8 Reales, 1685-L. Lima Mint; Assayer Leonardo de Rojas Paramo (R). Charles II. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, VF Details.
KM-24; Cal-590. Weight: 26.18 gms. An impressive Lima cob with attractive gunmetal gray toning. The broad, round flan allows for generous segments of the outer legend to appear, including the name of the Viceroyalty "PERU" on the obverse and the king's ordinal on the reverse. A total of three mintmarks, two assayer's initials, and two dates appear on the coin. Some striated tooling marks on the castles and lions account for the details designation, but hardly interfere with the piece's considerable eye appeal and presence.
