PERU. Cob 4 Reales, 1688-L. Lima Mint; Assayer Leonardo de Rojas Paramo (R). Charles II. PCGS VF-35.
KM-23; Cal-463. Weight: 13.65 gms. This handsome cob was struck on a broad flan. The satisfyingly struck devices offer two mintmarks, two denominations, an assayer's initial, and most of two dates. The reverse cross is pleasingly complete, and its surrounding castles and lions are well-preserved. This nicely detailed piece is enhanced by a lovely medium gray toning with reddish accents around the peripheries and darkness on the edges. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
