SPAIN. Cob 4 Reales, 1611-To C. Toledo Mint. Philip III. PCGS AU-55.
KM-36.3; Cal-837. Weight: 13.88 gms. This charming 4 Reales piece is compact but nicely detailed thanks to the well-centered strike. The obverse shows the mintmark, assayer, and denomination, with a bold Habsburg shield between them. The castles and lions on the reverse are sharply detailed despite minor die rotation, and the truncated digits of the date are clearly readable. The surfaces display lovely old cabinet toning with hints of lustrous iridescence. A wholesome piece with great eye appeal. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
