SPAIN. Cob 4 Reales, 1615-To. Toledo Mint. Philip III. PCGS AU-53.
KM-36.3; Cal-846. Weight: 13.74 gms. This attractive Cob offers a wealth of detail. While the mintmark is only faintly visible, the denomination and monarch's ordinal are boldly visible on the obverse. The reverse shows a full and clear date, along with "-NIARVM" on the outer legend. While the central devices on both sides are quite pleasing, the castles and lions on the reverse are particularly impressive. The surfaces are lightly toned and retain traces of luster. A problem-free example with uncommon eye appeal. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
